“Our children are our responsibility, and their education our paramount priority”
Giddy with excitement, these kids almost ran us out of the class. Those who were here in October could not wait to show off their prowess to their friends. And those who were not here, did not want to be outdone. It was absolute creative mayhem; my staff and I and their accompanying teachers had our hands full coping with these ones.
But in all the chaos, my joy was that THE CHILDREN REMEMBERED. Those who were here in October could fully recall what they had done in Scratch. We had to re-organise our teaching to allow these ones show their friends how to use the application. This made me believe that if children are taught in the way that captures their imagination, there is nothing they cannot learn and what they learn they will always remember.
This leaves me with a question: HOW CAN WE UTILISE TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS SO THAT OUR CHILDREN’S CREATIVITY IS FULLY UNLEASHED AND THEY CAN LEARN IN EASIER, FASTER AND IN MORE EXCITING WAYS.
